Valbiska
Valbiska is a ferryboat port in the Šotovento area situated in the west portion of the island of Krk. The name of the area comes from the Italian words “sotto vento” meaning “below the wind” or “leeward”.
Sounds like a great position for the ferryboat port. Valbiska Cove offers a great shelter from the bora and the scirocco – the most common winds in this area. It is the starting point for ferry lines to Merag on the island of Cres and Lopar on the island of Rab.
Traveling to Merag lasts about 25 and to Lopar about 80 minutes. Line Valbiska-Merag is operated by Jadrolinija which is Croatia’s largest liner shipping company for the maritime transport of passengers and vehicles with a tradition long over a hundred years.
Line Valbiska-Lopar is operated by Jadrolinija. Mild winds and the orientation to the south and west contribute to the lush vegetation in Šotovento.
