Taxi Šilo

Šilo is a tourist center of the Dobrinj Municipality situated in the well-secured bay on the north-east portion of The Golden Island Krk. It is opposite Crikvenica on the mainland, 2.5 nmi (4.6 km) far from it.

This information is important because people from Crikvenica established Šilo. Inhabitants of Crikvenica and nearby Selce have had land on the island so the link between mainland and island was created.

First regular boat line Šilo-Vrbnik-Crikvenica was started in June of 1905 by Krk Steam Shipping Company with a steamboat “Dinko Vitezić”. Šilo is also known for the first ferry line on the eastern Adriatic coast that connected Crikvenica with Šilo in 1959.

The name of ferry boat was Bodulka and from that moment tourism in Šilo started to rise. The patron saint of Šilo is Saint Rocco who was asked for help in the middle of 19th century when significant part of this area was affected by plague.
